Our client, Unison Contracting Services (UCSL) is the contracting arm of Unison Networks Ltd, the electricity distribution network provider in the Hawke’s Bay, Taupo and Rotorua regions. UCSL has entered into a multi-year agreement with Aurora Energy to help deliver its network programme. They have established permanent capacity in Dunedin to efficiently meet the scope of work covering maintenance, renewal, and development work on Aurora Energy’s electricity network in Dunedin.

An exciting opportunity is now available for a highly capable and suitably experienced individual to join the UCSL Dunedin team in the position of Health, Safety and Environmental / Quality Assurance (HSE / QA) Manager.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Dunedin you will manage the development and implementation of HSE strategies, policies and practices in order to enhance and build on UCSL’s safety culture. You will provide training and coaching to managers, staff and contractors to ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Electricity Industry legislative requirements.

In addition, you will be responsible for carrying out Quality Assurance checks, including assessments and audits on work completed, to ensure compliance with standards for both UCSL and Aurora Energy.

In this instance, we are seeking someone who possesses the relevant Health and Safety Management experience in order to “hit the ground running” in this key position. Your commitment to ensuring a safe environment for staff, contractors, third parties and the public will be evident for all to see.

Key skills, attributes and qualifications required for this role include:

* Relevant HSE leadership experience
* Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislative and statutory requirements
* Experience in providing advice and coaching to managers, staff and contractors in H&S policies and procedures
* Quality focussed; able to make recommendations for continuous improvement
* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
* Engaging, positive and proactive in your approach
* Ideally, possess a relevant qualification in the Health and Safety discipline
* Although not essential, electricity industry experience would be advantageous

You may already be in a comparable Health and Safety leadership position, possibly in the electricity, utilities or related sectors. Or, you may bring relevant electricity industry experience, great people skills, and a desire to build your career in the Health and Safety arena. Either way, we would love to hear from you.
