Each year the airport ensures a warm southern welcome and farewell to more than two million domestic and international travelers making the most of the region's world-class scenery, lifestyle, events and experiences.
Queenstown Airport offers direct commercial flights to seven New Zealand and Australian destinations. Both Queenstown and Wanaka airports are popular tourism and general aviation hubs, particularly for flightseeing and private jet visits, with Wanaka Airport also offering flight training, private flying, aircraft maintenance, visitor attractions and a global base for NASA scientific balloon launches. The airports contribute significantly to the economic prosperity of New Zealand and the local region. More than 900 people are employed across the airports' communities, with strong links to the communities they serve.
As part of the Queenstown Airport Fire Rescue team you will provide effective responses to all emergencies and incidents that occur at the airport. The job comes with a lot of responsibility as passenger and airport staff safety is paramount so a considered, calm and collected approach to all situations is essential. You will be an integral part of a small team, primarily responsible but not limited to maintaining category, attending medical calls, wildlife management and other airfield duties. Fire Rescue positions are an essential part of the total organisation operations and can involve all employees in any activities necessary for the continued safe and effective operation of the airport. As such, they may involve additional tasks including aviation safety, security and airport operations and airside maintenance functions as directed by the General Manager Operations.
Previous experience is not a requirement, as on-the-job training will be provided.

If your application is successful, you will be asked to attend a Physical Assessment at the Airport on Saturday 13th April 2019 and if successful in passing this initial testing you must be available on Sunday 14th and Monday 15th April to attend physical competency tests and group assessments in addition to a robust interview process.
To be considered for this position you will be required to undertake medical examinations as well as security and background checks.
