About the Society:

The Leslie Groves Rest Home was established in 1952 by the St. Johns Anglican Church From small beginnings in a single-story home, Leslie Groves is now one of Dunedin’s larger providers of residential aged care, including rest home, hospital and dementia level services.

Now ready to move into the next chapter of its history, Leslie Groves is embarking on a time of significant transition. Building on its current foundation, Leslie Groves is committed to ensuring that it consistently provides a ‘gold standard environment’ for both residents and staff.
About the role:
This role will assist in promoting and maintaining a culture of continuous quality, health and safety improvement, innovation and excellence.

The role is for someone who has a genuine care for older people and their families and who will be a passionate advocate for Leslie Groves’ Quality, Health & Safety programmes. Residents at Leslie Groves are at the forefront of all we do, and this newly-established role will play a key part in ensuring the highest standards of quality, health and safety for residents, families & staff.

Based at Leslie Groves Hospital in Wakari, the position is permanent part time (20-25 hours/week) with the days and hours of work to be negotiated with the successful candidate.

The Person:

You will be a New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate and have a minimum of two years practicing experience You will have the ability to work collaboratively with management and staff at all levels whilst demonstrating a facilitative leadership style. You will balance this with the understanding that Unit Managers lead and are responsible for their areas.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to communicate with a diverse team both in writing and verbally. You will be able to delegate to and empower staff and, through your enthusiasm, ensure that quality, health and safety are owned by each staff member.

We require someone who understands and identifies with the unique nature of Leslie Groves

Key skills for this role:
• Be a New Zealand Registered Nurse and hold a current practicing certificate
• Have a Minimum of 2 years Nursing experience and hold relevant experience in a Quality Heath and Safety Coordinator role.
• Experience in continuous quality improvement models and aged care certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of Health and Disability Service Standards and relevant Health and Safety legislation
• Demonstrated knowledge of ‘best practice’ quality improvement models
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Highly organised and pro-active
• Calm under pressure and flexible
• High attention to detail
• Self-motivated
• Friendly and positive attitude
• Ability to use initiative and self-manage
• Problem solver
• Good solid computer skills
• Professional and ethical
